LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KT) – Randy Irons, the Associational Missions Strategist of the Union Association and longtime Baptist pastor, died Sunday after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Irons, 57, pastored six churches before taking on the AMS position. He was a graduate of Carson Newman College and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his Master’s in Divinity.
Randy was born in Athens, Tennessee on March 21, 1962 and was raised in the Pond Hill community. He was a 1980 graduate of McMinn County High Schoo.
He pastored churches in Tennessee and Florida before moving to Kentucky with his wife, Karla, of 38 years Karla. They have three children and their spouses and eight grandchildren.
Services will take place at New Providence Church in Loudon on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. for visitation with a celebration service immediately following.
