LEXINGTON, Ky. (KT) -- Police in Lexington are searching for the suspects in two separate weekend homicide cases,that occurred less than 12 hours apart.
Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Elm Tree where the victim was found dead in his home of an apparent stabbing. He has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s office as David Godbold, 56.
Then about 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Lexington police responded to the 700 block of Florence, where 51-year-old Carroll Martin was found in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital and later died.
Witnesses described the possible suspect in the Sunday shooting as a black man with a beard. After the shooting, he was seen running toward Douglas Avenue.
No arrests have been made in either case and Lexington police ask anyone with information to contact them.

Lexington has now had 16 homicides this year, which compares with 22 for all of 2018. That was down from the 28 that police reported in 2017, which was the most since at least 2008.
