CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (KT) - The former office manager of the Boyd County Child Support Office has been indicted on 76 counts of forgery after allegedly stealing a large amount of money over several years, Kentucky State Police said.
A contractor working with the office reported in September that Mary Pickett, 55, was allegedly taking money, police said. She was terminated and escorted out of the office, police said.
Pickett allegedly took the money from the payroll account over a period of years, according to state police. No money was taken from any child support account or case.
Pickett, of Flatwoods, forged the name of another county official multiple times to illegally obtain money, KSP said.
She was indicted last Tuesday on one count of theft and 76 counts of forgery, according to state police. It was not disclosed how much money was involved, but the amount was more than $10,000 and less than $1 million.
Pickett is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. A warrant was issued for Pickett’s arrest.
