Death penalty sought for man accused of murdering officer

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (KT) – The man accused of murdering an eastern Kentucky police officer could face the death penalty.


Commonwealth’s attorney Rick Bartley said Tuesday he will be seeking the death penalty against John Hall, who has been charged with killing Pikeville Police Officer Scotty Hamilton in March in the Hurricane Creek community of Pike County.


Hall was on the run for about 36 hours before police arrested him at a home o the Pike-Floyd County line.


A pretrial conference is scheduled for May 24.
