Cats play 3-point wheeling Wofford on Saturday afternoon

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (KT) - Kentucky will meet Wofford in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday in a 2:40 p.m. tipoff on CBS.

The Wildcats, playing without star PJ Washington who has a foot injury and was in a cast, easily dispatched Abilene Christian, 79-44, on Thursday.Wofford downed Seton Hall 84-68 by finishing the game on a 17-2 run. The Terriers made 13 of 28 3-pointers.

Wofford senior guard Fletcher Magee became te NCAA's all-time 3-point leader in the win. He made 7 of 12 from downtown and has connected on 509 in his career.

Having Washington back for Wofford seems unlikely. Coach John Calipari, in an interview with ESPN, sounded pessimistic about his return this weekend.

"There was a choice between a boot or a cast," Calipari said. "They said the cast would be better to help him heal, and they can take it off whenever. They can take it off tomorrow and see how he's feeling. But my guess is that he won't play this weekend. It will be a hard game, either one of these teams, to win without him. But if he's not feeling right with that foot, he shouldn't play. ... Hopefully, the cast will speed things along, which is why we did it that way."

CBS Sports sideline reporter Jamie Erdahl spoke to Washington before the game. He said the injury is on the bottom of his foot and that the pain is a 10 out of 10.

Murray State, a No. 12 seed that stunned Marquette behind star Ja Morant's triple-double,, plays Florida State on Saturday in a 6:10 p.m. game on TNT.

Louisville was eliminated by Minnesota in the opening round Thursday.

Northern Kentucky, a No. 14 seed, takes on No. 3 seed Texas Tech on Friday at 1:30 p.m. on TNT.
